NAMED WW2 CASED PURPLE HEART

This is a very nice cased, slot brooch purple heart named to Tech 5 Chester F. Wrobel, 917th Ordnance Heavy Automobile Maintenance Company. The official Government engraving is the pantographic style that was done for only a few months late in the war for KIA awards and servicemen at the separation centers.  Information is rather sparce for the 917th but from what I can find they were active in the North African campaigns.  Research indicates that Wrobel was from the Chicago area, enlisting in 1941 and discharged in 1945.
