M1939 COLLINS MACHETE W/ LEATHER SCABBARD – NEW GUINEA 1945

A M1939 machete by Collins & Co. with correct leather scabbard.  The 22-inch blade is marked with the Collins logo and dated 1942.  Both the blade and grip are in very good condition, with the blade exhibiting only dark areas and light, if any pitting. The leather scabbard is made by Boyt and dated 1942.  The maker stamp is mostly obliterated except for the legible “42” date. The soldier who carried this machete carved “NEW GUINEA 1945” to the face of the leather scabbard and “GEORGE KERR /sn/US ARMY” on the reverse. This is a very cool relic of the Pacific theater
