In 1941, the Army introduced the herringbone-twill work suit to replace the denim pants and jumper. Collectors refer to this uniform as the “first pattern HBT.” The jacket was OD8 in color. The first pattern jackets, Specification Number 45, were waist-length with two pleated breast pockets, an adjustable waistband, and a bi-swing back. These uniforms were widely distributed and used in all theaters of operation until the end of the war. Production continued until the fall of 1942.
Overall condition is very good, but the back has a rust-colored stain. The buttons retain nearly all the black paint. The contract tag is washed out. The jacket is named in collar.
