The coat is named to Private Robert E. Friesz, a rifleman in Co. G, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines.  Friesz was a bronze star recipient and was severely wounded in action during the invasion of Guam. He was wounded so severely that he was discharged due to disability, his coat having the white discharge diamond on right sleeve.  Jacket has 3rd Division patch on left sleeve and both EGA’s on collar. The ribbons are the correct 1/2″ USMC/Navy type.  The coat is in overall very good condition with only a few scattered small moth nips.  After the war Friesz was heavily involved with disabled veteran organizations.

An excellent candidate for further research.
