Standard issue P41 USMC 3-pocket jacket with EGA stenciled on chest pocket. When I purchased this jacket there was a note inside the pocket that identifies it to Capt. Orrin W. Johnson as given to an earlier collector by his grandson. I have no reason to believe it is a fabrication because the collector I purchased it from didn’t realize it was there.
Captain Johnson was an artillery forward observer and an officer of the hq battalion, 12th Marines, 3rd Marine Division. He saw action at Guam and Iwo Jima. He received the Purple Heart during the war. There is definitely more research to be done here.
Condition is very good and displays well. Jacket shows field use and is missing 1 button and has some loose stitching on lower pocket.
