A WWII Army Air Corps pilot’s crusher cap featuring a wool body with a mohair band, a super soft brown leather visor, and a matching chinstrap. The interior sweatband is marked “EZ CUSHION,” with the original owner’s name, “E. CAICUTS,” (Eli Caicuts) stenciled on the back. The cap is in excellent condition, showing only minor wear consistent with age.
Caicuts enlisted in the Army Air Corps prior to the war and was stationed in British Guiana with the 9th Air Force under the North African Air Force (NAAF) early in the conflict, serving as an enlisted flight engineer on a bomber. In 1943, he completed flight school and officer training to become a pilot. Limited research has yet to determine whether he was deployed to Europe or the Pacific following his flight training.
