M1943 US SHOVEL & COVER

A Model 1943 US issue folding shovel with original cover.  This would be the primary type entrenching tool issued to all combat troops from the mid-war period on. This example has the original paint and has not been enhanced or touched up. The shovel is maker marked by Ames and dated 1945. There is sharpening along the front edge of the shovel head, otherwise, very good. The cover is marked “U.S.” and the shows expected use and storage wear. The inner flap is marked with designation, stock number, maker (Redwine & Strain) and is dated 1945. A nice condition example of the standard US issued entrenching tool.
