A U.S. Navy nurse’s Seersucker work dress featuring black plastic navy buttons and a traditional nurse’s work hat. The dress includes a small instrument pocket on the left chest and a buttoned instrument pocket beneath the left collar. A tag sewn into the inner back collar bears the name Valine Estes. She was commissioned in 1943 and served until her discharge after World War II in 1945. Her duty stations included hospitals in the Solomon Islands and Samoa. She was recalled for one year of service in 1950.

The overall condition is very good, with no tears or holes. There are some scattered stains, likely from her work. The attached waist belt is missing the double buttons that secure the cloth belt at the sides, which should be easy to replace. This piece originates from a very old collection, where the gentleman acquired his memorabilia directly from the family or the veteran..
