The group consists of a numbered, unnamed Purple Heart, a named Army Good Conduct medal, a wartime 1st Infantry Division patch, a pair of sergeant’s rank stripes, an infantry collar disc and a shirt size combat infantry badge, all wartime patterns. The Good Conduct medal is named to H.W. Green, this would have to be Howard William Green of Ohio. He is the only soldier that was WIA that matches the name on Good Conduct and his hospital admission card is shown in photos. He was wounded in the elbow and thigh by artillery fragments in October 1944 which coincides with the 1st Divion actions around Aachen.
Condition: All pieces show similar wear and age and have been together since the war. The Purple Heart case shows wear.
