An extremely rare UNIS marking for C Company, 4th Tank Battalion, 4th Marine Division. The musette bag is marked “914” in a half circle with “4” above indicating rank of lieutenant. At the time of Iwo Jima there were only 5 lieutenants in C company. The bag was made by Boyt and dated 1944. USMC is stamped on inner flap. Excellent condition with minor wear and staining.
The 4th Tank Battalion has a fantastic history from the battles of Kwajalein to Iwo Jima. There is a very informative history online regarding the 4th and their actions and innovations during the war.
