A fairly scarce set of wings from WW2. The wings are pinback and marked “STERLING”. The design shows high detail and is very similar to marked N.S. Meyer examples. The latch is missing on catch end but pin stays in place without issue.
Service pilots were officers and NCOs who were brought into the military and awarded aeronautical status as military pilots based on previous civilian flying experience, but whose duties were restricted to non-combat flying.
