WWII ARMY CONTRACT OFFICER’S CRUSHER STYLE HAT

A soft billed cap produced on contract to the US Army by Society Brand Hats.  The hat has a wartime Bancroft label in crown and is obviously one of their products. The inside of the sweat band is stamped with Society Brand contract information which includes description (CAPS, SERVICE OFFICERS) spec no., stock no. and Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot with date of 3/2/42 and size 7. The highly gilded eagle cap badge is stamped Acid Test on reverse.  I assume that Society Brand had a contract with the Army to supply officer hats and purchased parts from Bancroft to complete the orders. Definitely not a put together piece.
