A WWII Marine Corps fighting knife manufactured by Camillus with early type stapled and stitched leather scabbard. Grip is standard 5-groove style which is tight and just showing expected age and use wear. The pommel is pinned. Cross guard is marked “CAMILLUS, N.Y and U.S.M.C.” Blade measures 6.75 inches with about 65% black parkerized finish remaining. Blade shows evidence of an old, probably wartime, sharpening. Leather scabbard has nice dark color from use in the Pacific theater. The body of scabbard is stitched and stapled with staples showing a nice untouched verdigris. A nice example of an essential piece of a fighting Marine’s gear.
